We were introduced to the cannabis industry by partnering with Chef Matt Stockard of CBD Daily Eats and began creating CBD Mock-tails for events. We started off doing small backyard events and quickly expanded to other markets in different industries. ![]() The energy the team had was at an all-time high! Everywhere I went I was looking for opportunities to meet chefs or event planners to partner with in order to generate business. We had no idea the ride we were about to embark on but we were excited. We assigned roles to our existing employees and began having bi-weekly team meetings that We used as manifestation sessions to map out pretty much the entire year of the business. ![]() From uniform colors, the type of employees we wanted, type of clients and our services in full details. My assistant manager Ashleigh began coming over every day, we sat by my pool and just brainstormed idea after idea and our visions of where we saw the company going. I taught the girls how to bartend, signature cocktail recipes, basic bar knowledge and more importantly, professionalism within the business. I had a group of friends who needed motivation so I figured this was the best time to empower ourselves and use Last Call as a vessel to create our own opportunities instead of waiting for them. At this point I knew in order to be successful I had to build a solid team. All I had was my faith in God, Last Call and an amazing support system at home telling me to keep going. I sold my car, moved out of my 27th floor apartment in DTLA, and stayed with a friend while I saved and built the business. Resigning from that position would leave me without a stable income which scared me, but I left anyway. At the time I was still booking events monthly but I couldn’t focus fully on Last Call. It’s a cool gig, pays well, and you get to do cool things depending on who you’re working for but you ultimately end up putting yourself second. is now over and you’ve basically taken on someone else’s life and here’s the kicker, you STILL have to manage your own. But what they don’t tell you is that your life. Or so I thought… Look you’ll hear all these amazing stories out there about being a Hollywood assistant. This decision was calculated on me having more flexibility to work on my business. I left the job at the restaurant and got a job as an executive assistant in entertainment. Procrastinating if you will.īut I finally started brainstorming names for the business, got all the equipment to facilitate events and decided after getting opinions from my peers, that Last Call Bar Catering was going to be a leading Los Angeles based Mobile Bar Company. It was not easy at all, I went through the motions. I switched gears and decided to focus the little bit of free I had on becoming an entrepreneur. I began thinking of how I could maximize my time without sacrificing what I made in a week at the restaurant and still be able to pursue my purpose for moving to LA. The days I was at the restaurant I would work 8-hour shifts. It started to be what I did when I wasn’t working at the restaurant. I was working as a cocktail server in Beverly Hills while attending school, and friends of mine would ask me to bartend their small events here and there. ![]() When I moved to LA 4 years ago from Columbus Ohio, to attend The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, I learned just that.
